If you have an accident

Here are things you can do to make it easier to settle your claim quickly:

  • Record the name, address, licence number and insurer of other drivers involved, if possible.
  • Record the registration numbers of other vehicles involved, if possible.
  • Try to get names and addresses of witnesses.
  • Notify the police as soon as possible.
  • If your vehicle is undriveable and you have comprehensive motor vehicle cover, arrange for it to be towed to a place of safe storage. Contact the claims department and the staff will initiate the Total Claims Service Process.
  • If your car is less than 5 years old then you can take it to a garage of your choice and request them to submit their estimate of repairs to us.
  • If your policy includes "loss of use cover" then within the terms of your insurance policy we will arrange for a replacement car.

If your vehicle is stolen

  • Report it to the police.

If someone makes a claim against you

  • Record the name, address, licence number and insurer of other drivers involved, if possible.
  • Record the registration numbers of other vehicles involved, if possible.
  • If the claim is for an accident, try to get names and addresses of witnesses.
  • Do not make any admissions.
  • Do not attempt to settle any claim made against you.
  • Ring us as soon as possible and tell us a claim will be made against you.
  • If necessary we will send you a claim form. We may ask you to send us all documents relating to the claim (e.g. letters, court documents, notes, etc.).
  • At our option we may represent you at any inquest or official enquiry, or defend you in court against an alleged offence in connection with the accident which led to the claim being made against you.

Property & Casualty

  • All incidents of Fire, explosion, theft or any damage to you or your property caused by the impact of a motor vehicle must be reported to the Police authorities.
  • Our surveyor will get in touch within 24 hours of reporting a claim. If necessary, we may appoint a Loss Adjuster, who is an independent expert, to investigate, establish the cause and adjust the loss. If you help the Loss Adjuster with all his requirements then the settlement of the claim can become quick and efficient.
  • Make a list of all damaged items and keep all the supporting papers available to establish cost and expenses.
